Junior Noboa – DRSEA Advisory Board
Junior Noboa was promoted to Special Assistant to the General Manager of the Arizona Diamondback, Latin American Operations, on February 20, 2007, after serving as the director, Latin American Operations, since October 2003. He also works as the director of the Diamondbacks’ baseball academy in the Dominican Republic. He was the organizations’s first international hire in August 1995 and a month later signed the organization’s first two players.
In 1997, he was the first recipient of the roland Hemond Award, bestowed upong a member of the organization who best exemplies the “Diamondback” approach to their work. Noboa began his professional baseball career in 1981 when he signed a free-agent contract with the Cleveland Indians. He made his Major League debut three years later on August 22, 1984 against Toronto. His career lasted 8 years and he played for Cleveland, California, Montreal, New York Mets, Toronto, Oakland, and Pittsburgh. In 1994 he retired as an active player.
